Celi at the Cinema: The Conjuring

I love scary movies. People who know me very well know this fact. I’ll watch any scary movie that comes out. I’ll even go to a horror movie by myself. As a kid, my parents never let me watch them. They felt a sensitive child like me wouldn’t be able to sleep after watching Freddy Kruger and Jason mutilate victims. They feared I’d be scarred forever after watching Carrie or Psycho. Horror movies just weren’t a part of my life. At all.…

The Great Gatsby: My Review

There’s been a lot of build up  for The Great Gatsby. A lot. And I admit, I was one of those swept up in all the excitement, the product placement, the magazine covers, fashion collections, and design of this film. So much so, that I found myself at the movie theater this morning at 10 AM buying a ticket to the movie. As much as I love Hollywood and movies in general, I rarely go out of my way to…

Forever A Bluebird

Recently, I had a chance to visit my old high school, Highlands High School, and meet with some of the students there. Honestly, this was really fun. When I graduated in 2000, I decided I wasn’t going back. I had bigger things to do— a life to live, and a world beyond Ft. Thomas, KY that I couldn’t wait to explore. I thought the last time I walked out the front door of that school would be the last time…

Radio Days

I had a chance to help the folks out on 101.9 Twister with their St. Jude radio-thon Friday, and I jumped at  it. Even though I work in broadcasting, doing radio is still a little “foreign” to me.  I’ve spent most of my career in TV, and only recorded radio updates as needed. I’ve never done much radio DJ-ing or news radio. So on Friday afternoon, from noon to 1:30PM, I had a blast. The whole setup was to raise money…

Reflections on “Stuff the Bus”

One of the best things about my “day” job is the chance I have to be involved in the community. As anchor on Freedom43TV‘s 9PM News, I get to form partnerships with community organizations in Oklahoma that can really impact lives. One of my favorite partnerships is the one Freedom43 has with the Oklahoma Transit Association and Operation Homefront Oklahoma for “Stuff the Bus”. Every fall, OTA takes the bus out of service for a day, parks it at the KFOR/KAUT Freedom43…
