Summer Beach Reads: A Guide for July

Lazy summer days make perfect reading days. A book can be the best companion for a day at the pool, the beach, a long afternoon in the backyard, a road trip, or an airplane ride. With so many awesome books out there these days, though, what are some that should be at the of your list? Here are some of my recent favorites. Just suggestions, of course. 🙂 The Girl on the Train: Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every…

Just got some important news about Booktrope’s new edition of PRINCE CHARMING, and I want to share it without any delay. As I have mentioned before, Booktrope planned to publish a new edition of this work on July 6th. It’s getting a new cover, a new round of edits, and new chances to find readers. When this book was accepted by Booktope for publication, I couldn’t have been happier. I still feel that way. However, PRINCE CHARMING’S expected publication by Booktrope…

A Recap of the 2015 Louisville Author Event

Had a great time this past weekend in Louisville at the Louisville Author Event at the Crown Plaza Hotel next to the airport. These  kinds of events are so much fun because they feature authors and readers from all over region. I met people from Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Georgia, and many other places all in one afternoon! This event was also the first time I got a chance to meet specific fans of my work. In the past…

Grammarly’s Anatomy of a Grammar Nerd

I wouldn’t call myself a grammar nerd–not in the traditional sense of that title. Spelling can be a challenge for me, and so are a few of the higher nuances of the English language. Over the years, though, I have become a wordsmith and a shark about my own usage of punctuation and language. I love a good phrase, a wonderful play on words, the Oxford comma, and the finer points of hyperbole. Grammerly just released a new infographic about…

All the Details on My #CharmingGiveaway

I’m in the mood to “Celi-brate.” That’s a term my husband and I have for when we throw a dinner party or cocktail night, and it applies here, too. As you may know, my young adult novel, PRINCE CHARMING, will be republished by Booktrope this year. The company acquired it in March, and the story is getting a whole new look and a new rounds of edits. Geoff Miller’s story is getting some polish, and it’s been fun so far. What…

Takin’ Texas By Storm at RT

If you love books as much as I do, there’s no better place to be than at RT Booklovers Convention. I’ve heard about it for years, and I have a friend who always attends, but it’s never been in the cards for me, because the convention isn’t cheap. When you add in hotel, plane tickets, food, and more it’s on the pricier end.  This year, I got to attend it in Dallas, and I can assure you, it is worth…

April’s Read Along with Me: The Good Girls

April’s Read Along with Me is a brand new, out of the box book by Teresa Mummert. Ever since I heard about The Good Girls, I’ve wanted to read it. It sounds like something I have NEVER read before, and it sounds like a mind job. I’m in! Here’s the blurb: My life was meticulously planned and I refused to deviate from that path. While my peers were partying, I prepared for the future. Then a tragic event destroyed everything…

Fun Times at Aston Oaks Golf Club

A few weeks ago, my wonderful author friend, Mia Sheridan, graciously invited me to participate in a “wine and books” event at Aston Oaks Golf Club. No way would I turn that one down! From 1-4 on Sunday, March 29th, we met with readers, drank some wine , and had a fantastic afternoon. Authors Emerson Show, Tanya Kappes, and Wendy Owens also participated in this signing. I think I speak for all of us when I say we had a…

All About #PrinceCharming’s Big News

If you follow me on social media, you might have noticed some exciting news about my young adult coming-of-age novel, PRINCE CHARMING. It has been picked up the publisher Booktrope, which plans to release a second edition of the book sometime this year. I couldn’t be happier about this news. Here’s a quick rundown on what happens next: PRINCE CHARMING will go through a new round of edits, and could get a new cover design and layout. PRINCE CHARMING‘s second…

Read Along With Me: Me Before You

As I mentioned last month, I’ve decided to do a “book of the month” selection on this blog. As an author and someone involved in the literary community, I come across new books and authors all of the time. This year, I’ve also made a commitment to read more (and I already read a lot). The book selection for March is Me Before You. You may have heard of this one, it has received an enormous amount of praise and interest…
